Northern Highbush variety. A tall and quite erect grower that produces large, light blue berries with a delicate flavor. Jersey is one of the oldest, most widely grown varieties. Easy to grow in most soil types; produces consistently high yields of very sweet fruit.

Blueberry Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:

Grow in acidic, well-drained soil. Cottonseed meal is an excellent fertilizer for blueberries along with good quality compost.

Interesting Notes:

Blueberries are rich in Vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene as well as rich in the minerals potassium, manganese, magnesium. They are very high in fiber and low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium.
Anthocyanins create the blue color in blueberries. Anthocyanins are antioxidants, known to reduce heart disease and cancer in humans
